Job Description

Our client is searching for an experienced Data Engineer to join their team in Chicago.

 

Responsibilities:  

  • Build and support the environment for Data Pipelines.
  • Build and manage Tableau and SSAS / PowerBI environments.
  • Develop solutions that enable investment professionals to efficiently extract insights from data. This includes supporting the ingestion (web scrapes, S3/FTP sync, sensor collection), transformations (SQL, Kafka) and analytics (Tableau, SSAS Power BI, schema design, events).
  • Partner with the industry’s top investment professionals, quantitative researchers, and data scientists to design, develop, and deploy solutions that answer fundamental questions about financial markets
  • Build tools and automation capabilities for data pipelines that improve the efficiency, quality and resiliency of the data platform
  • Drive the evolution of the data strategy by challenging the status quo and identifying opportunities to enhance the platform

 

Requirements:

  • 5+ years of experience working with data pipelines and products like Tableau and PowerBI.
  • Great communication and presentation skills.
  • Strong interest in financial markets and a desire to work directly with investment professionals
  • Experience thinking strategically with analytical and problem-solving experience
  • Experience in identifying, utilizing and communicating service level performance metrics
  • Passionate about innovating and investing in ground-breaking technologies
  • Proficiency with SQL Server RDBMS, Tableau, SSAS, PowerBI, NoSQL, distributed compute platforms such as Spark, Dask or Hadoop
  • Experience with any of the following systems: Apache Airflow, AWS/GCE/Azure, Jupyter, Kafka, Docker, Kubernetes, or Snowflake
  • Proficiency with one or more programming languages (Java/C++/Python

 

 

Education:

  • BS in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline
